Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent anywhere, so nobody else can see them — not even us.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on the file. PDFs with photos or scans often shrink by 50–90%. Text-only PDFs are usually small already and may not shrink much.

Which compression level should I choose?

“Recommended” suits most files, including email attachments. Use “Light” if you plan to print, and “Strong” when the smallest size matters more than image sharpness.

Why does the first compression take longer?

The compressor (about 16 MB) downloads once the first time you use it. After that your browser keeps it, so later compressions start straight away.
